Transportation Letter
Welcome to Baker County Transportation!
Welcome back! The Baker County School District is committed to providing the students of our community with a safe and quality transportation system. Please read this letter carefully with your child in order to ensure a successful year. If I can be of any help, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to partnering with you!
Discipline:
There are no minor discipline problems on a bus. One action could jeopardize the safety of all students. Each bus is equipped with video surveillance cameras to maintain a safe environment for all students. Please view the bus expectations below as well as the “Are We There Yet?” brochure on the back of this letter with your child for further safety information. If your child does not follow bus rules, the parent will have the responsibility of transporting their child to school.
-
Respect the driver and fellow students at all times
-
Keep arms, legs, and other objects inside the bus at all times
-
Remain seated in your assigned seat at all times.
-
Keep your conversations to a reasonable level and silent at the railroad tracks
-
No eating, drinking, or vaping on the bus
-
Appropriate language is required
-
Throwing objects, pushing, hitting or like behaviors will not be tolerated on the bus
Consequences for violating any of these expectations may result in your child losing the ability to ride the school bus. Riding the bus is a privilege, not a right.
Compensation for Damages:
If your student is found to have damaged any part of the bus, they will be charged for the repair. If payment is not made for damages, the amount will be tacked on to the student’s school debt list. This list follows the student from year to year until it is paid in full. Non-payment may affect the student’s ability to participate in certain school events and activities.
Live Bus Routes:
Parents may track their child’s route on the district website at www.bakerk12.org. Click on the Department tab at the top of the page, select transportation and then view live routes on the left hand side of the page.
Student Information Sheets:
Please fill out the student information sheet accurately and return to your child’s driver as soon as possible. This information is very important documentation in case of an emergency.
Sincerely,
Wyatt Milton
