Cold season is upon us, which means asthma flare-ups. it is important to your child's health and safety that if they require an inhaler or nebulizer at home, then they should have one in the clinic at school. If your child is diagnosed with asthma, but doesn't have an inhaler at school, please contact the school nurse at 904-259-0391. Let's work together to keep your child safe and healthy.
Winter Health Reminders: Habits for Good Health
A healthy school environment requires the cooperation and effort of us all working together. During this time of year we tend to see a higher incidence of strep throat, respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses. We would like to remind everyone that they can help to protect themselves and their families from many of these airborne illnesses. Follow the Habits for Good Health listed below recommended by the Center for Disease Control.
* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough and sneeze and throw the tissue away after you use it. If no tissue is available cover your nose and mouth with the inside of your elbow.
*Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. If not near water, use an alcohol-based hand cleaner.
*Try not to touch your eyes, nose an mouth, germs are spread this way.
*Dress for the weather.
*Stay away from people who are sick. If your child gets the flu, stay home from school. Do not go around other people so that you don't make them sick.
